Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Saturday confirmed the arrest of a vice mayor in Maguindanao province included in the "narco-list" of President Rodrigo Duterte. Dela Rosa identified the arrested vice mayor as Abdulwahab Sabal of Talitay town.
"Napangalanan siya ni presidente, kasama siya sa listahan ng mga narco-politicians," the PNP chief announced during his visit at the MIMAROPA regional headquarters. Dela Rosa, meanwhile, declined to confirm reports that the local official's arrest was in connection with the police's investigation on the Davao City blast that left 14 people dead and at least 70 others wounded.
"Pero ito ngayon, sa particular na bomb blast ng Davao, hindi pa natin na-establish," he said. Dela Rosa had said that drug personalities may have a hand in the Davao City blast.
Sabal and his brother, Talitay Mayor Montasir Sabal, are included in President Rodrigo Duterte's "narco-list" revealed early August. There are reports that the vice mayor has been transferred to the PNP's national headquarters in Camp Crame
