Despite lawmakers' alleged slut-shaming of Senator Leila de Lima, Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday said the former justice chief should still answer the allegations being lodged against her.

Robredo had already expressed disappointment with some members of the House of Representatives who she said pried too much into the personal life of De Lima, especially her past relationship with her former driver-aide Ronnie Dayan.

The vice president, however, said this is a separate issue from the accusations made against her, among them that she received drug money and that she used her influence as a public official for the benefit of others.

"Palagay ko, kelangan niya din sagutin 'yung mga dapat sagutin," said Robredo.

(I think she still needs to answer what needs to be answered.) Dayan had earlier alleged that he received money from suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa on behalf of De Lima at least five times in 2014.

De Lima denied receiving drug money, saying she has not met Espinosa, despite an alleged photo of them together.

Robredo said she has yet to talk to De Lima personally, but said she thinks the senator can handle the pressure coming from all the allegations.

The vice president, on the other hand, thanked Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald ''Bato'' dela Rosa for clearing her name from any alleged connection with the drug trade.

"Marami sating mga accusations na nakakatawa na ayoko ng patulan. Nung una may boyfriend, buntis, ngayon linked na sa drugs. Sabi ko ano pa kaya ang susunod?" she said. (There are so many accusations against me which I don't even want to answer anymore.

At first they said I had a boyfriend and was pregnant, now they're linking me to drugs. I wonder what will come out next?)
