Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson jokingly advised embattled Senator Leila de Lima to return to the country amid allegations from the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) that she might not return after her official trip to the United States and Germany.
"In jest sabi ko sa kanya, bumalik ka, huwag mo ako gayahin," Lacson said. ( I told her in jest to return. Don't be like me.)
Lacson was referring to his past when he evaded arrest during the time of President Arroyo for the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.
The VACC lodged a disbarment case, as well as a criminal complaint against De Lima for allegedly accepting drug pay-offs from high-profile inmates. Lacson said there is no reason to bar De Lima from leaving the country since there is no hold departure order nor warrant of arrest issued against her.
De Lima is only in the look-out bulletin of the Department of Justice because of its investigation on her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade in the New Bilibid Prison. She sought and got permission from Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre. Her overseas engagements are scheduled until December 22.
