BACOLOD CITY- Senator Leila de Lima on Sunday blamed President Rodrigo Duterte over the killing of a South Korean businessman inside Camp Crame.
De Lima also said the incident proves that the President is giving out orders on extrajudicial killings. In a speech during the multi-sectoral leaders conference of the Negros United Coalition, De Lima said the killing of Ick Joo Jee shows that Duterte is ordering policemen to commit extrajudicial killings as part of the administration’s war on drugs.
"That to me is a damning proof that it's the police that is behind these death squads. ‘Yung mga involved diyan sa tokhang for ransom na yan, yung sa Korean na yan, these are officials and personnel of the anti-illegal drugs unit itself of the PNP and that Korean was still right there inside Camp Crame,” De Lima said.
“Hindi na yata Camp Crame yan, Camp Crime na," she said. Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa earlier admitted that Jee was killed inside Camp Crame, prompting calls for his resignation.
Asked on whether dela Rosa should resign, De Lima said the PNP chief is simply taking orders from Duterte. “Because we all see General dela Rosa or Chief PNP dela Rosa as just being a loyal lieutenant to his boss and that is the president.
And dahil nga ang presidente mismo ang nag-eencourage ng mga pagpapatay, summary, killings, kaya ang nakikitang signal or message sa kanya ng mga ibang elemento dyan sa PNP is to do these things," she said. De Lima also blasted Solicitor General Jose Calida for calling her “public enemy number 1.”
