Senator Leila de Lima on Wednesday said she has credible information that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is planning to file a drug trafficking case in a regular court so that an arrest warrant will be issued against her.
"Ang plano daw ngayon is idederecho nila sa regular court para makakuha agad ng warrant of arrest," De Lima told reporters. De Lima, however, said that she is hoping the Court of Appeals will issue a temporary restraining order against the DOJ, which she accused of bias.
The senator maintained that her supposed case should be filed before the Ombudsman which has jurisdiction over her salary grade when she was Justice secretary during the previous administration.
She, however, said that if and when an arrest warrant is issued, she has no plans of going into hiding or leaving the country. "I will not leave the country, I will not hide, paninindigan ko yung innocence ko," said De Lima.
